Found out by accident that the OP theme for Mine Fujiko actually comes from one of Kikuchi Naruyoshi's older album titled New York Hell Sonic Ballet. The track (which is longer and doesn't contain the narration) was originally called "Arashi ga Oka", hence the new version with the narration becomes "Shin Arashi ga Oka". This episode literally took my breath away, even now, my heart is racing. This is the first time I've ever felt like this towards an anime. What can I say? This episode is violent, disturbing, whimsical, and devastatingly sensual. The only season one equivalent to this is probably the Jack the Ripper case. I'm happily prowling through a doctoral thesis on the topic of the Gothic in interactive fiction. There are some interesting assertions being made, in particular, a progression towards postmodernism within the Gothic genre itself.
